PERFORMANCE FOOTBALL PROVISION
at REPTON SCHOOL

Players on the Performance Programme commit to all aspects of the football performance provision from September to April each year. During this period, each week, pupils will participate in up to four football sessions, two strength and conditioning sessions and video analysis sessions. There is also at least one competitive match each week.

During the Summer Term (April - June), pupils can play their chosen Summer Term sport option if they wish, as the programme activities are structured around summer sports commitments. The senior players on the Performance Programme also have the option of joining the U18 full-time Futsal programme.

There is a focus on breadth of opportunity, and players will have the chance to experience all that Repton offers alongside their football. A pupil must put just as much emphasis on their academic studies and social skills as they do on their football.

WHO IS IT FOR?

The Repton Performance Programme is designed for players who wish to develop their football within the environment of a top Independent Boarding School. It is for players who do not wish to make the compromise of concentrating solely on football from such a young age. You can be an ambitious footballer, but also wish to achieve a high level of academic attainment, play other sports, perform on stage and experience a range of clubs and societies. With all of these activities on one site, and genuinely world-class facilities at our disposal, Repton might just be the place for you.

CAN YOU BECOME A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER WHILE at REPTON?

Although it would be wrong to claim that this is a fundamental aim for the programme at Repton, the simple answer to this question is, yes. We have outstanding links in the professional game, with a dedicated Academy Coordinator. In the last 15 years, seven alumni of Repton have gone on to play matches at a professional level. Many more have gone into the semi-professional game, while even more have seen their football open doors to top football-playing universities in both the UK and the USA.

Juniors:

When pupils join in Year 9 (B Block), they will participate in one term of Football and one term of Futsal with a full fixture programme. During the Summer Term, pupils will continue technical football development in a non-competitive setting, alongside their Summer Term sport option.

Seniors:

Once in Year 11 (O Block) or if pupils join in Sixth Form, they will become part of the Senior Performance Pathway. This consists of two terms of football (September through to April) and a full fixture programme plus the holistic elements of the pathway. In the Summer Term, there is the option to participate in Futsal with a full fixture programme playing the best clubs in the country (pupils can opt for a Summer sport option, instead of Futsal).

All:

Throughout a pupil's time at Repton, they will conduct a self-review process, guided by their coaches and player mentors, three times a year. These individual development plans will be targeted at the most important elements for their progression as well as helping them to take responsibility for their learning. They will be tracked over the player's five-year journey and upon graduation from the programme at 18, players will have a clear understanding and be able to take control of their progression.

Goalkeepers:

Developing our goalkeepers is an important aspect of the programme at Repton. We appreciate the unique nature and specialism of the position and on one of the training days we have a professional Goalkeeping coach come in to deliver to our Goalkeepers in all year groups.
