SPORT

CLUB sports

Repton has created unique conditions for player development through our commitment to club sport on the pupils’ doorstep, in addition to the exceptional School sports provision.

Repton Hockey Club, Repton Swimming Club and Repton Tennis and Rackets Club all facilitate national club league opportunities for pupils who wish to join and who can perform at suitable club level. All three clubs are open to sportspeople outside Repton School, drawing in talent from across the region to enrich still further the training and competitive opportunities available to our pupils, amplifying their personal development in their chosen sport.

Furthermore, the ability to play in regional and national club leagues and competitions facilitates more mobility for a pupil within those sports, allowing them to compete with and against players outside any school-sport restrictions. Where appropriate, players can compete for adult teams, in mixed-gender teams where no such opportunity might exist in a schools-based competition, and in friendlies with teams and individuals who would otherwise have no cause to play with or against a school side.

Repton’s unique, multiple-club setup creates experiences and opportunities that most other schools cannot hope to match, and this ever-growing and developing facet of Repton sport can be life changing for its members.

REPTON HOCKEY CLUB

Repton Hockey Club offers a high-quality coaching and playing provision to the school's pupils and to others in the local area. It offers hockey, year-round, to everyone from Senior Internationals to Under 6 beginners. A number of Olympians played for Repton HC in 2021/22 and our pupils benefit from playing alongside such adults. The club currently has three adult teams which our pupils can play for in addition to their junior hockey.

Pupils at Repton have the choice of playing for Repton HC or playing for another club and are supported to play for the club that best suits their developmental needs. This is guided by the School's Director of Hockey.

REPTON SWIMMING CLUB

Repton Swimming, which is affiliated with Swim England, is a unique club that offers a premier swimming programme and brings together international standard coaching within superb facilities.

In November 2019, Repton Swimming created its own performance training group and in 2020 were granted fully affiliated club status by Swim England. The programme is open to both pupils and members of the local community in equal number. The initial Performance Squad was quickly expanded to include a Junior Development pathway and was extended further into a Learn 2 Swim section in 2021.

At the Repton site, there is a six lane, 25m pool with new racing blocks, all set within the recently developed Sports Centre. This provides a perfect training environment for any ambitious swimmer.

Repton’s young swimmers will be following in the wake of Adam Peaty MBE - Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth Champion and world-record holder, who used Repton as his main training venue in the five years leading up to his historic gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The School was honoured to welcome Adam back to Repton in November 2019 to open its redeveloped Sports Centre.

Our aim is to place Repton at the very heart of UK swimming. With the first-class coaching and specialist facilities that we provide, our swimmers have every opportunity to maximise their potential and achieve success at the highest level.
