SUMMER TERM CELEBRATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
As the academic year draws to a close, the Summer Term at Repton has demonstrated the boundless talent, ambition, and spirit of our pupil body. From outstanding academic awards and artistic triumphs to sporting excellence and community engagement, this term has been a vibrant reflection of everything a Repton education embodies.
Academic Distinction and Innovation
Amidst the focus on exams, pupils across all year groups have continued to shine academically. New House and Field House were crowned joint winners of the prestigious Cattley Shield, while Foundation Scholarships – Repton’s highest academic honour – were awarded to Fisayo A and Will T.
National accolades poured in: Nicola S's German translation placed in the top 50 nationwide in the Anthea Bell Prize, and five pupils earned medals in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad. Meanwhile, our Formula Repton team placed 9th at the Greenpower F24 Tockwith race, and engineering pupils received a national Special Prize in the ICE CityZen competition.
Creative & Performing Arts: A Showcase of Talent
Music filled the School throughout the term: from the triumphant Concerto Concert to the heartwarming Summer Gala and Rock-It in Cloisters. Standout musicians such as Iyo K, William M, and Enake B delivered unforgettable performances, while many others achieved high grades in ABRSM exams.
Drama continued to flourish, with a memorable outdoor “Gaiety in the Garth” performance and a bold, modern adaptation of Elektra. Pupils also excelled in LAMDA examinations, with several achieving the coveted Gold Medal in Acting.
In Art, scholars exhibited stunning works in Gallery No.1, and congratulations go to Holly J and Bohdan B for being awarded Colours. The International Photography Competition saw Javier M claim first prize.
Excellence in Sport
Sporting success reached impressive new heights this term:
- Football: The Girls’ U15A team captured Repton’s first national junior title in the ISFA Trophy, and the Boys’ 2nd XI retained their Derbyshire Cup.
- Hockey: Our U14 boys reached the national final, while Ambrose D was selected for England U18s.
- Athletics: Betsy W and Myles C will compete at national level, with Nathan M and Isla R crowned Senior Victor and Victrix Ludorum.
- Cricket: A historic moment saw Annie W become the first girl to play for the Boys’ 1st XI. The U17 Girls triumphed at the National Championships, while multiple pupils earned places on professional and national sides.
- Tennis: Four Repton teams reached national qualifying rounds, and both 1st teams reached the National Finals.
- Swimming: Seven pupils have been selected for international competitions, including the World and European Junior Championships.
Character, Community and Contribution
Beyond the sports fields and classrooms, Reptonians continued to embody the School’s values. More than 170 pupils participated in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, while the CCF offered memorable opportunities for leadership and challenge. Special congratulations to Bri H-H, who becomes Repton’s first cadet to attend the national Master Cadet course.
Community engagement remained a priority. From helping run Repton Primary’s sports days to raising £8,000 at the Lewis Sewell Memorial Concert, our pupils have made a meaningful difference. The Anne Hill Cup for kindness and merit was awarded to Field House and The Orchard – fitting recognition of the spirit and generosity of our House system.
Farewell and Thank You
As we bid farewell to the Upper Sixth, we thank them – and especially Head Prefects Robbie and Bella – for their leadership, integrity, and humour. We also extend our gratitude to staff departing this year, with special recognition to Mrs Wheeldon, Mr Fairbrother and Mr Smith for over 30 years of dedicated service to Repton.
We wish all Reptonians and their families a restful and joyful summer – and look forward to welcoming you back in September.
