ST HUGH'S TO JOIN REPTON FAMILY OF SCHOOLS FROM SEPTEMBER 2025
Repton School is delighted to announce that from 1 September 2025 St Hugh’s School, Woodhall Spa will officially join The Repton Family of Schools.
Founded in 1557, Repton has established a global reputation for educational excellence, with a growing network of schools which now educates 10,000 pupils across three continents. St Hugh’s, a highly respected day and boarding co-educational prep school, becomes the latest member of this thriving family.
This move reflects a strong alignment in ethos and vision between the two schools, each of which places the individual child at the heart of its mission. Both institutions share a commitment to high-quality education, exceptional pastoral care and nurturing the unique talents of every pupil.
St Hugh’s will retain its much-loved traditions, ethos, uniform, and location in Woodhall Spa. The school will maintain its current leadership, led by Headmaster Jeremy Wyld, and the majority of the existing governing body will remain in place, joined by representatives from Repton to enhance governance capacity.
The move brings exciting benefits for pupils and staff alike, including access to specialist teaching, enhanced co-curricular opportunities, increased professional development, and greater operational resilience. St Hugh’s pupils will continue to move on to a wide range of senior schools, with objective advice tailored to each child’s needs.
“This collaboration is an exciting opportunity to protect and strengthen the outstanding provision for which St Hugh’s is known, while embracing the innovation and global perspective of the Repton family,” said Mark Semmence, Headmaster of Repton School and CEO of the Repton Family of Schools.
Ian Tyler, Chair of Governors at St Hugh’s, commented: “Joining the Repton Family of Schools secures a bright and dynamic future for St Hugh’s. This is a partnership built on shared values. Our families can expect the same caring, family atmosphere and individual attention – with even greater opportunities for every child.”
The merger marks another milestone in Repton’s development, which now includes 11 schools across three continents, and underlines its commitment to offering an exceptional start to life for every pupil, grounded in charitable and educational excellence.
