REPTON'S REMARKABLE HISTORY CELEBRATED IN COUNTRY LIFE MAGAZINE

Repton’s history is celebrated this month in Country Life Magazine, where David Robinson traces the story of the medieval Augustinian priory that weaves together the heritage of our distinguished public school with the Anglo-Saxon world and the Kings of Mercia.

The village of Repton is renowned for its deep historical and architectural heritage, centered on the parish church of St Wystan and the remnants of its medieval Augustinian priory. The feature delves into the legacy of the long-vanished priory, a site renowned as a burial place for kings and princes from several branches of the Mercian royal family.

Robinson observes, “Happily, under the stewardship of the present headmaster, Mark Semmence, supported by his librarian and archivist Paul Stevens, there is a keen appreciation of Repton’s historical legacy and its power to enrich both the life and future of this celebrated school.”
