HIGHER EDUCATION EVENTS INSPIRE REPTONIANS' GLOBAL AMBITIONS

Repton pupils have enjoyed a stimulating series of Higher Education events this term, showcasing the breadth of university opportunities available both in the UK and abroad.

Around 50 pupils from A Block to the Upper Sixth attended an International Universities Fair hosted by The University Guys. Representatives from universities in Spain, Switzerland, France, the United States, Canada and many other countries were on hand to share insights into studying overseas. Pupils were enthused by the diverse range of options and inspired by the exciting prospects open to them around the world.

This was followed later in the week by a talk from David Hawkins, founder of The University Guys, attended by around 40 pupils. David spoke in depth about applying to universities in the United States, explaining the key differences from the UK system - including the importance of holistic admissions, standardised testing, essays and extracurricular activities, and the range of liberal arts pathways available. He also encouraged pupils to research their target universities carefully and to develop a strategic approach based on their individual strengths, interests and aspirations, ensuring that each application reflects the best possible personal fit.

Finally, Repton welcomed Newcastle University for a lively Marketing and Business workshop, followed by a “Study at Newcastle” presentation. The university, popular among Reptonians for its academic excellence, sporting opportunities, vibrant city life and broad range of courses, attracted strong interest - with around 70 Sixth Form pupils attending the workshop and 30 joining the presentation. Pupils gained valuable insight into studying and applying to Newcastle, further supporting their decision-making as they prepare for university applications.

These events are just part of Repton’s comprehensive Higher Education programme, which ensures pupils are exceptionally well-informed and supported as they explore their next steps. From international fairs to targeted university workshops, Reptonians benefit from a wealth of opportunities designed to broaden horizons and inspire ambition.
