Repton School

Hockey

Hockey is a major sport at Repton for both boys and girls. All pupils, regardless of their experience, receive regular hockey training with one of the teams and are able to participate in school matches. Tuesdays and Saturdays are the main days for fixtures and opponents include schools, universities and senior club sides. Pupils can also opt for hockey coaching during all three terms.

The school has invested heavily in its facilities in recent years. Two floodlit water-based Astroturf pitches, a sand-based Astroturf and a Sports Hall for indoor hockey allow training and matches to continue all year round. Such facilities have also made Repton an attractive training venue for the Great Britain Men’s Squad and for several junior International teams.

Repton has an impressive record in the National Hockey Finals with the most recent being in 2010 when both the boys and girls were both crowned National U18 Champions. The girls have now won the National Under 18 title for a record breaking six years running. Repton were also National Indoor Champions in 2010 (U18) and 2006 (U16). Before winning the U18 National Title in 2010 the boys had also appeared in numerous national indoor and outdoor hockey finals. The U16 team were National Champions in 1995, the U18 team runners-up in 1998 and 1999, losing both finals on penalties and, since 2005, the U18 team have also been regular National Semi-Finalists (Indoor and Outdoors).

The current school hockey teams boast nine players with International experience and many others are regularly involved in Junior Regional Performance Centres.

The most recent developments in Repton Hockey have been the construction of large electronic scoreboards on both surfaces and the purchase of Sportscode – the world’s premier video analysis software to allow both team and individual feedback.
