Hockey

Reigning Girls National U18 Indoor and U14 Outdoor Champions 2011

Hockey is a major sport at Repton for both boys and girls. All pupils, regardless of their experience, receive regular hockey training with one of the teams and are able to participate in school matches. Tuesdays and Saturdays are the main days for fixtures and opponents include schools, universities and senior club sides. Pupils can also opt for hockey coaching during all three terms.

The school has invested heavily in its facilities in recent years. Two floodlit water-based Astroturf pitches, a newly laid (2011) sand-based Astroturf and a Sports Hall for indoor hockey allow training and matches to continue all year round. Such facilities have also made Repton an attractive training venue for the Great Britain Men’s Squad and for several junior International teams. Teams and individuals even receive feedback from Sportscode, the world’s premier video analysis software, to improve the quality of their hockey.

Repton has an impressive record in the National Hockey Finals, with the girls winning the National Under 18 title a record breaking six consecutive years between 2005 and 2010, and in 2010 the School held both the Boys and Girls U18 National Title. This year has seen further success, with all age groups reaching the National Finals:

2010/11 National Finals

Girls' U14 National Champions

Girls' U16 National Indoor Finalists

Girls' U18 National Indoor Champions

Girls' U18 National Runners-Up

Boys' U14 National Finals - 3rd Place

Boys' U16 National Indoor Finalists

Boys' U18 National Finals - 3rd Place

The current school hockey teams boast seven players with International experience and many others are involved regularly in Junior Regional Performance Centres.
