FOOTBALL COACH PROFILES AND CPG

The calibre of our sports coaching team is second to none. Our coaching staff bring a wealth of experience in the field and specialist coaching for all pupils. In September 2023, Repton welcomed the new Technical Director of Football, Luke Webb to the Sports Department. As well as the depth of teacher-coaches at the School, Luke will work alongside both Molly Holder and Chris Lawrence, to develop the Football Programme at Repton.

Luke Webb
Technical Director of Football and Head Coach

Luke is the Technical Director of Football at the school. After a three-year professional playing career at Arsenal, Coventry City and Hereford United, Luke sadly had to retire from football due to injury. He continued with his passion for education and psychology, completing a BSc Hons Sports Science and Coaching degree at Roehampton University.

Luke has been an academic teacher and pastoral tutor in the independent school system for more than a decade, whilst at the same time creating a nationally acclaimed football education programme that facilitates the development of the pupils to a truly elite level. He is now able to solely concentrate on the education he provides through football and is being supported at Repton to create the number one football education programme in the world for both boys and girls.

Luke achieved his A Licence in 2016 and has since moulded his football philosophy through extensive evaluation. He has also created a syllabus of human and performance education that is unrivalled in the sporting and education sphere. His passion is firmly embedded in the equal combination of academic, social and sporting excellence, which is shown in the delivery and high-level achievements of the football programme and teams he has helped guide. Luke truly is one of the most innovative football coaches and system engineers in the sports and education space.

Molly Holder - Girls Coach and Lead Football Coach

Molly Holder
Football Development Officer and Lead Football Coach

Molly plays in the FA Women’s National League North and has recently transferred to Stoke City after a stretch at Middlesbrough. As well as benefiting from the experiences of a current league player, she is also working towards gaining the UEFA B coaching qualification.

Molly played for the North Yorkshire Centre of Excellence, then Huddersfield Town WFC in the National Women's Premiere League, followed by Durham in the Women's Championship. Her work for the Regional Talent Club coaching U12s and U16s means she understands the full youth development journey.

Molly is excited to focus on expanding the Repton girls’ teams and continuing to push the Girls’ 1st XI in the top-flight competitions. For her, fostering belief and respect for the women’s game is key, so that football continues to be a fulfilling part of our young women’s lives post-Repton.

Chris Lawrence
Teacher in Charge of Football and Lead Football Coach

Chris is a teacher of PE at Repton and, having been Head of PE from 2018 to 2023, has now taken on a more dedicated role within the football programme as Teacher in Charge. Chris is a qualified Football and Futsal coach who has worked in the independent education sector since 2008.

During this time, he has been fortunate to coach and mentor pupils who have gone on to play in the top three tiers of English football as well as in Europe. Prior to starting his teaching career, Chris gained a first-class degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University before achieving a PGCE in PE and an MSc in Education at the same institution.

Throughout his studies, Chris specialised in facilitating activity across ability groups and, as a result, he is dedicated to ensuring that every pupil at Repton has access to the highest quality football provision, regardless of their current level of skill. He is also passionate about using football as a social vehicle and plays a big part in our outreach programme.

COACH CPG

Our strategy of excellence extends to all our coaches. We have a teacher-coach model at Repton, where we utilise the outstanding educational skills of our academic educators and upskill their football understanding through continuous professional growth courses.

Each Summer the A team coaches undertake a bespoke course delivered by our Technical Director of Football designed to develop outstanding A team coaches. B-D team coaches also undertake a bespoke course designed and delivered by our Technical Director of Football to ensure they have the skill set to deliver excellence to the players on the participation pathway of the programme.

The engagement in these courses and the subsequent level of coaching talent and understanding of the game that the participants have gained has been outstanding.
