It was lovely to be able to celebrate the end of the term with a delicious House supper and evening of fun as the long Christmas term came to an end.
We were lucky to have some wonderful guests with us to enjoy the evening – including our own tutors – Mr McClary, Miss Kinmond, Mr and Mrs Cadman, Mr and Mrs Nield as well as our matron and husband – Margaret and Steve. As well as our “in house guests” we also had a number of other key members of Common Room – Mr Owen, Mr and Mrs Atwood, Mrs Jenkinson and Mr and Mrs Bowley joining us for the evening.
The evening started with a sung Grace – arranged by Mr McClary and including both members of staff and girls from the House. This was followed by a delicious three course meal – including a choice of goats cheese tartlet or melon and parma ham, a full roast turkey main course and a pudding aptly named the “Chocolate Nemesis”. Tricia our wonderful cook and her team had done a superb job and the ladies kept all the tables entertained with renditions of various Christmas songs throughout the course of the evening.
A huge thank you to all the academic and House staff who joined us for the evening and to our wonderful team of ladies who made it such a memorable event.
The evening ended with speeches. Head of House – Hannah Barker did a superb job of her speech and had the last word of the term before we departed for the evening to enjoy the Christmas holidays with families and friends. A perfect end to a busy and very successful Christmas term!
