What a fantastic match...In the final, we played against School House where the pitch was not in the great conditions as it was really slippery. This was always going to be quite tough game. We went ahead when their defender scored an own goal which indeed was a great strike, but into the wrong goal. However, School House managed to fight back to score an equaliser when our defenders struggled to clear the ball; unfortunately for us it was the correct goal this time. We were the stronger side in the first half, the score being 1-1. School House were the stronger side in the second half, however, our midfielders, Ryan Padley, Calvert Hyde-Barker, Philip Balkanski and Joe Knight worked really hard to take control of midfield. Ryan Padley’s amazing through balls splitting School House’s defensive line were especially pivotal, creating many chances. Our strikers, John Arnold and Michael Guest, played well, creating trouble for School House defenders throughout the match. Our back four, Luke Hulse, Tom Shaw, Will Garrett and Shintaro Kajiwara, also defended well to keep us going strong. This match was another great match for Will Garrett who looked really confident at the back, controlling our defence line. Luke Hulse and Shintaro Kajiwara also made goal-saving tackles. Jack Edwards in goal made great saves, without which we could easily have succumbed; his reflexes and courage, however, repeatedly thwarted School House. Special mention has to go to our two subs, Sam Armstrong and Charlie Bracegirdle, who played exceptionally well in our times of need. Calvert Hyde-Barker was the man to watch, his two goals bringing us to victory in the final.
Well Done lads!!!
