Match Report:
The final game of the season has come round extremely quickly and the Repton girls knew this would be the last game they would play together as a team. The girls beat this team by only one goal last season so we knew we would have to work hard. The girls were extremely enthusiastic and wanted a good result. We started off strong but both teams started showing signs of nerves, giving away possession easily and miss handling the ball in the circle. We took the lead after the first quarter but knew we were going to have to play well in order to keep the lead. During the second quarter we kept the lead and raised our game, we were moving well, supporting each other and providing good balls into the shooters. At half time the score was 18-10.
During the third quarter we played some of the best netball I have seen the girls play. Meg was excellent at supporting others in centre court, Emily and Sophie worked well as a pair in defence, Esther and Milly were creating space in the circle in order to get close to the post, Phoebe took control of mid court and worked hard throughout . Harriet and Vicky made some excellent interceptions and provided good balls to the shooters. The final score was 40- 22 to Repton. The Uppingham coach commented on the quality of the girl’s netball, with specific mention to Sophie and Milly. I awarded man of the match to Meg, Emily and Phoebe who were excellent in centre court.
This was an excellent way to end the term and the girls have been a pleasure to work with. They have improved as a team and as individuals and proved they have got rid of any bad habits (Meg, Em and Vicky). I wish them all the best and it has been a pleasure to work with such a willing group of girls. LJB
