Match Report:

The team have two matches this week and after a disappointing result against Oundle, the girls wanted a more promising result against Priory to set us up for our match against Trent on Thursday.  The girls seemed much more positive and wanted to do well against them. We started off a little nervous with some stray passing but soon settled down to our style of play. The emphasis was on keeping possession and getting the basics right with lots of movement and support. We took the lead in the first quarter but knew they would come out strong after the break. Priory were very good technically and played to a high standard and the Repton girls rose to the challenge. Milly was more confident and dominated in the circle with Phoebe, Vicky and Harriet supplying good balls to both shooters.

At half time the score was 13-10 to Repton. This next quarter was going to be make or break and the girls took every opportunity. Sophie and Emily were excellent in defence with some good defensive play and interceptions. Meg also played well throughout and used her speed incredibly well on centre passes when Priory were tightly marking out our other options. Esther was moving around the court putting into practice what we had done in training the previous day. The final score was 29-18 to Repton, a fantastic win. It was a pleasure to watch the girls yesterday and to witness their delight at the end of the match. They knew they had played well and they truly deserved the win. An excellent team performance. Milly is awarded player of the match as she has grown in confidence and played an excellent match, well done to all the girls. LJB
