U15B v Trent

Date: Saturday 16th January

Venue: Away. Go to lunch as normal and then get changed. You will need to be ready to leave the Arch at 1.15pm

 Kit: Blue skirt and shirt + white socks. No hoodies! Remember to remove jewellery and to bring water bottles. Match start time is 2.00pm. Estimated time of return: 5.15pm

Match Report:

This was our first competitive match of the season as a result of our fixture against Oakham being snowed off last week. In the meantime we had little opportunity to train, and due to hockey and injury we were down to 7 players and no subs facing a daunting away fixture at Trent.

However, my concerns were unfounded as we were simply outstanding today. Every single player worked tirelessly and our movement across the court was brilliant. We lost defenders cleverly, passed accurately and shot well. Without the ball we gave them little space and forced Trent into making numerous errors, preventing them from finding their rhythm and limiting their opportunities to shoot.

From GK to GS we looked strong, keen and determined and I am very proud not only of the win today, but also the manner of the performance. It would be unfair to single-out one girl and so the team deservedly received the first player of the match award. The only downside today was reaching the coach's target for the girls to score 25 goals with the promise of a reward in the grubber on Monday. Maybe I need to set my target's higher?! Very well done today girls and an excellent foundation for the season ahead.
