Match Report:
This was always going to be one of our most challenging matches, given the strength of the opposition. We were therefore unlucky that illness decided to strike at this time. Thanks must therefore go to G. Chan and E. Buckley who stepped up from the U14D team and played with such determination and enthusiasm. With no Reserve player, each and every girl fought hard for the entirety of the match. Perhaps due to a lengthy coach journey, the girls took a while to warm up to the game and in the first quarter, the Oundle side were simply much hungrier for the ball, snatching it at every opportunity. D. Collins worked hard in WD, but Oundle's accurate shooting meant that they soon took a considerable lead. Our first goal came due to some quick thinking from C. Brooks, who throughout thr quarter created several opportunities for shots at goal. Unfortunately, our shooting simply did not match the accuracy of the opposition's.
The next two quarters demonstrated the grit of the Repton side, as they fought hard to get back into the game. Indeed, the third quarter saw the Oundle side only scoring three goals, thanks to the determination of D. Collins who took on the position of GK with considerable success. The girls have learned some important lessons from this match; firstly, the importance of staying calm and ensuring that they are taking the time to think carefully about their decisions. Secondly, they need to work hard at limiting the number of unforced errors, increasing the accuracy of their passes. However, the girls had a thoroughly enjoyable day and I was delighted to see them in good spirits throughout. VLK
