Match Report:
This was an excellent match for the U14 B team who demonstrated many of the skills they have been taught in training and who worked hard to make this a convincing win against a determined Worksop side. There was some good team work from Alicia Stevens and Phoebe Roberts who once they had their rhythm were able to get in some good goals, taking the Repton team 8-1 ahead at the end of the first quarter. Charlotte Perkins also played very well at Centre - making sure she intercepted the ball and kept the movement down the court. In the second quarter Repton stayed strong and stayed ahead 14-2 goals. This strong score line was helped by Lucy Edwards who worked hard in defence to stop the ball reaching the Worksop circle. Zoe Furness also played well in defence, and made a number of crucial interceptions. In the third quarter Amy Davies moved to Centre and showed her skill at feeding the ball to the attacking players in the circle. There was strong evidence in this section of the match of one of the key skills the girls have been working on, and it was a delight to see them communicating so well and working together as a team to give the GA and GS more opportunities. Sevvy Matthews remained strong and was a critical player, able to make many vital interceptions especially as Worksop took their Centre passes. It was also good in this third quarter to see the versatility of Rachel Higgins who was able to play both in defence and as a shooter, and showed that she has developed some good skills in both critical positions. In the final quarter of the game Repton finished strongly winning with 23 goals to 5. The excellent defensive play from Ellie Rylands in this final quarter kept the Worksop team from scoring at all in this quarter and it was good to see her high work rate rewarded. Well done girls on a good afternoon of netball and the excellent effort you made as a team.
