Match Report:
The U14B team played another superb game of netball this afternoon, winning by a close margin of 18 goals to 17.
Repton had to fight hard throughout the course of the afternoon, and just managed to keep ahead at the end of the game. There was some superb play from Sevvy Matthews at wing who made a number of critical interceptions turning the ball around for Repton. Charlotte Perkins at Centre worked tirelessly to keep feeding the ball into the circle and was excellent at helping to keep the ball flowing down the court.
After a fairly comfortable first quarter the Repton team was ahead by 6 goals to 3, however Oakham found their stride in the second quarter and played with determination to break through the Repton defence. Lucy Edwards played very well at GD making sure that Oakham had limited opportunities in their circle. Zoe Furness also played some very good netball, helping to defend the ball in the circle and taking the rebounds. Both Repton and Oakham scored 4 goals in the second quarter taking the score to 10 for Repton and 7 for Oakham.
Oakham came out fighting hard in the third quarter and scored one more goal than Repton. Amy Davies continued to work very hard at wing, making sure she kept intercepting the ball and feeding through the centre of the court. In the final quarter of the game the Repton team really stepped up a gear. Some excellent shooting in the circle led to Rachel Higgins and Alicia Stevens took Repton on to win by 18-17, with both teams fighting hard.
A very tight game, with lots of well fought goals. The girls played in good spirits and worked together really well as a team – well done on some great netball girls.
