Match Report:
This was an excellent victory against a strong Charlton side. The boys were asked to up their work-rate on the pitch and to press the opposition more effectively. They did indeed raise their game and maintained a high level of performance for most of the game. Charlton enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, nevertheless, but an excellent free kick from Sanders was finished by Ballantyne-Rowland to give Repton an early lead. Some slack defending then allowed Charlton to go into the lead but a fine strike from Binns after good work from Johnson-Kerr made it 2-2 with less than 20 minutes on the clock. The game was being played at a high tempo but Repton looked stronger for most of the second period with the front two of Binns and Ballantyne-Rowland looking dangerous. The latter got his head to a Johnson-Kerr cross to put Repton 3-2 ahead and Binns added a fourth on the break as Charlton pushed men forward. The lead did not look secure even then as Repton finally began to tire and some poor defending allowed Charlton to make it 4-3 with three minutes remaining. There were one or two scares in the gloaming but Repton held on for a fine win and proceed to the third round.
