Match Report:
Last weekend the U14’s headed off to the Regional Tournament in Leicester. We eventually found the netball centre and the tournament soon started. We had a while until our first match so decided to watch the opposition. The first match was against Stamford, a strong and very tall team. We won the toss and the match was soon underway. Their height paid off and they scored some early goals and went on to win the match. Once again we won the toss to The Grove; they had previously lost to Stamford so we had a good idea of their play. A few early goals were scored by Jess L which put us in the lead. Ellie scored four fabulous goals to give us a win of 8-3. Next up was Northampton. They seemed a strong team but we played well and secured at 3-0 score by half-time. Our play decreased after that and they managed to catch up and the match was a draw, so we knew we had to win our next match to secure a place in the semis. Once again we started off with the centre pass, but things weren’t to be, KHS soon scored two goals and it seemed difficult to get the ball into our circle and although we managed to score one goal, it wasn’t enough and they won. Our final match, a play off to determine our overall position in the competition, was against Bushloe. Once again we got first centre pass but things went downhill from there. At half time they were 2-1 up, but after a focused team talk we played much better in the second half and we won the match which placed us fifth overall. Francesca Beharell/LHB
