A good crowd stayed behind after Chapel on Sunday to witness the inaugural Organ Half Hour. Kyoko Canaway (Foremarke Hall), Joseph Jankinson and Kaan Harwood all performed.
This was a tremendously uplifting short recital. They chose interesting pieces, varied and accessible, and entertained the audience fully. It was heartening to see the newly restored organ being enjoyed by such talented musicians. Mr Hodgkinson has only been teaching them since September.
The programme had Bach and Walton’s Richard the III suite at its heart, and gave each player several opportunities to perform. It was an excellent start to this new organ recital series: Congratulations to all three!
We will shortly be welcoming Mr Jeremy Rouse back to Repton, to give an organ recital as part of the Subscription Series. Jeremy was Assistant Director of Music until he moved to Bedford School in 2007. He will be playing in Chapel on Sunday 19th June, at 7.15pm.
