Repton School

That is the Question…

That is the Question…

The Junior Literary Society’s Annual ‘Great Big Fat Literary Quiz’ has become something of a staple in the Society’s calendar. Even in the bleak midwinter of a January evening, it was lovely to see so many Reptonians venturing out to test their knowledge against that of their contemporaries.

The Quiz is traditionally made up of four parts: Children’s Literature, Classical Literature, a Picture Round and a Speed Round. It was perhaps slightly concerning that no team recognised the picture of Old Reptonian Roald Dahl, although it was  also interesting to note that all teams performed best in the most challenging round, that of ‘Classical Literature.’

The winning team, by a significant margin, was made up of S. Cornish, R. Cordingley and C. Chadwick, due primarily to their knowledge of Romantic poets and (rather more obscurely) Vermicious Knids. However, all of the pupils participated in excellent spirits and with much enthusiasm; however, all teams left with several areas to research…in particular the dwelling place of a dormouse, which is quite evidently in a teapot and not a hole.

As ever, Junior Literary Society continues to thrive and we are now looking forward to our next event, the forthcoming debate which promises to be hotly contested.
