Superb performances in music grade examinations!

Superb performances in music grade examinations!

Many congratulations to a number of Mitre girls who have done brilliantly in the latest round of ABRSM examinations. There have been some superb individual performances which reflect the hard work of the girls and the hours of dedicated practice that they have put into the preparation for their examinations.

U6th Former Eva Lo, did superbly to gain her grade 8 on the trumpet. She has already had huge success with this instrument winning the brass section of the senior music competition earlier in the year. Emma Stoll L6th, also gained her grade 8 on the piano, having achieved a high level merit. O Blocker Charlotte Graham was also very successful being awarded a Grade 7 on the flute, again passing with a high level merit. Added to this superb achievement Charlotte also took her Grade 7 singing exam and was awarded a distinction for her outstanding singing. It is wonderful to be able to report the success too of Laura Carver 3M who gained her Grade 2 with merit on the Jazz Flute.

As well as the music examinations this term, a number of the girls were also very successful in grade examinations last term. Kit Rees U6M gained a distinction in her Grade 8 exam on the Jazz Alto Saxophone. Kit's very special Saxophone was very prominent on the stage for cabaret last term and will no doubt feature again in the end of term musical events. Elizabeth Duggleby 5M also did superbly to gain a merit in her Grade 6 on the Jazz Saxophone.

The House has had an excellent year for music, and it is wonderful to see such talent developing from B Block through to U6th. Well done indeed to all the girls, who can add music to their many other achievements across the course of the year.
