At the end of the summer term Kamilah Lakhani was awarded a Nuffield Science Bursary to spend four weeks during the summer holidays investigating techniques to assess the water resistant properties of suncreams with scientists at Boots in Nottingham.
Having written up her project Kamilah was invited to present her findings to a group of scientific advisors at a Nuffield celebratory event hosted at the British Geological Survey centre in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. Besides being awarded her certificate, Kamilah also answered questions and talked about her experience.

Her work is now being assessed for a CREST award at the Gold level - the highest level possible and we should hear very soon if she has been successful.
Nuffield Foundation Science Bursaries offer bursaries for students to work alongside practising scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians. Projects take place during the summer holidays, giving students an insight into the world of scientific research and development.
CREST is Britain’s largest national award scheme for project work in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It gives young people aged 11-19 opportunities to explore real world projects in an exciting way.
