Summertime and the living is easy

Whilst many of us were enjoying a much-needed rest over the summer holiday, some of our boys seized the opportunity to make progress towards reaching their sporting goals. Andrew Brigham represented the Independent Schools’ Tennis Association against the All England Club at Wimbledon in July. Miles Maclagan (Andy Murray’s coach) and Barry Cowan appeared in a strong All England Club side, preparing Andy for the challenge of competing for a place at his new college in the heat and humidity of the South Carolina climate.

Eddy Ikin has been selected to take part in an English Cricket Board Under 18 Scholarship Programme; if Eddy progresses through the selection process, he may fly out to Bangalore in India in February. Jordan King continues to take huge strides towards fulfilling his dream of becoming a Formula 1 star; he won the British Kartmaster Grand Prix in Newark over the summer break, lies in third position in the British Championship and gained valuable experience in both the European and World Championships in Spain and Italy respectively.

Finally, newcomer to The Cross Lower Sixth, Johnny Gorman signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers over the summer. Johnny, already capped for Northern Ireland, left Manchester United for the Old Gold of Wolves and the chance to study for A Levels at Repton.
