Mitre Head of House Hannah Barker, and this year’s Captain of Athletics did superbly in the Derbyshire County Championships which were held on the afternoon of the 11th June, taking silver in the triple jump. Hannah jumped 9m 41 to win her medal. To add to Hannah’s silver medal Amelia Etherington U6M, who has been Deputy Captain of Athletics this year, took silver in the 200m. It is excellent to see the hard work and determination of both Hannah and Amelia rewarded at the county level, especially against such a strong field of athletes from across the county competing. Both Hannah and Amelia also played a critical role in helping the House to victory in the Kropacsy relays and are looking forward to the Athletics finals at the end of term when Mitre hopes to retain the Sport’s Day cup.
