On Saturday evening the usual peaceful atmosphere of Pears School was transformed into an ‘Ice Ball’ for the Sixth Form Christmas Social. The addition of an ice-sculpted 6ft snowman was the finishing touch to the traditional decorations of tinsel and Christmas sparkle and the scene was set to get everyone in the festive spirit.
With fun in mind, poker, roulette and blackjack tables tested the skill (and luck) of the Sixth Formers and gave the opportunity to win an iPod! The Toni James Band provided the music, with a range of massive hits from a repertoire including Duffy, The Jackson Five, Amy Winehouse and The Killers and ensured that the dance floor was packed all evening. A hog-roast in the Cloisters encouraged the pupils to venture outside for their festive meal and some fresh air before heading back inside to dance to the final band set.
Congratulations to the Social Committee led by Hannah Dunford (U6G) and Calum Setterington (U6S) for working hard to create a wonderful evening with a lovely fun-filled atmosphere.
