Ethos & Aims

It is Repton’s aim to discover and develop the sporting and athletic potential within every pupil, as part of a balanced and challenging co-curriculum. Repton continues to provide a sports programme that has a positive influence on all ages and abilities of pupils. We aim to develop every pupil’s interest in sport, from aspiring internationals to those for whom sport is just part of a healthy lifestyle.

Our long tradition of sporting excellence gives us the experience required to maximise every pupil’s potential, regardless of the level of sport that they play. To help us achieve this, we offer outstanding facilities and an exceptional team of coaches. This level of support guarantees the best possible environment for every pupil to develop their skills, including the very elite.

Repton offers a choice of over twenty five sports, and an ever-increasing number of teams represent the School at all levels. Our programme is based around team sports, providing pupils with countless opportunities to represent the School.

Pupils are expected to participate in the main sports during their junior years, before progressing to a wider range of options as they move up the School.

As well as organising prestigious fixtures against other schools, we have a programme of inter-house sport, enabling all pupils to experience competitive sport on a regular basis.

Achievements and Honours

Repton has enjoyed significant national sporting success in recent years.
The School continues to home to a significant number of elite performers, both at junior and senior international level. These athletes are provided with close personal tutoring and training, and in some cases a tailored academic programme can be developed for their individual needs, to support their sporting ambitions while safeguarding their vital academic development.

Facilities and Resources

Helping us deliver such an outstanding sporting curriculum are our first-class facilities and we are currently making major developments to our Sports Centre.

Our pupils are supported further by our Athletic Development Programme and if required, onsite physiotherapy.

Our major sports throughout the year are:

Michaelmas Term Lent Term Summer Term
Football (boys) Hockey (boys) Cricket (boys)
Hockey (girls) Netball (girls) Tennis (girls and boys)
