Sparkling Pink evening at Sale of Work Parents dinner!

Sparkling Pink evening at Sale of Work Parents dinner!

Last night was a wonderful celebration of all things pink as the Mitre L6th prepared a delightful evening for the Mitre parents.

Guests were greeted by the twinkling of fairy lights and candles on the driveway and handed a glass of pink champagne to begin the evening. The drinks reception was made all the more enjoyable by superb musical accompaniment from a host of Mitre musicians. A big thank you Emma Monteiro U6M, Ellie Jennings Edwards 4M, Lizzy Duggleby 5M, Charlotte Graham 5M, Emma Stoll L6M and Polly Sloman 3M who all performed superbly in the private side dining room as guests mingled and enjoyed the canapés. There was more musical entertainment from Kiki Betts Dean who played the piano as guests entered the dining room ready to be seated.

The girls had done a superb job of creating a wonderful atmosphere in the dining room, complete with petals for name placements, floating candles and more fairy lights! The kindness and generosity of parents also meant we had plenty of fabulous raffle prizes. The book of 500 tickets quickly ran out and emergency home-made tickets had to be made! The raffle alone raised over £200 towards Sale of Work.

Tricia (our House chef) and the kitchen team did a superb job and it was wonderful to see plate after plate of her delicious food go back empty to the kitchen. The L6th did a superb job waitressing and were very attentive to all the tables, who were on great form going into the auction. They also tucked into the delicious food and enjoyed this as part of their evening themselves.

Mr Parish led the way as auctioneer and did a fabulous job. The first lot – a signed Gordon Ramsay cookbook – proved very popular and the bidding war had already begun! Again we are very grateful indeed to the kind generosity of parents who had provided some thoughtful and beautifully presented auction prizes. There were some very popular sporting lots – including a signed cricket bat and tickets to the New Zealand v. England Rugby match. The bidding was done in great spirit and by the end of the evening with the auction and raffle combined the girls had raised over £1,500 – a wonderful mark of parental kindness and the girls doing a superb job.

Thank you all for making it such a memorable and enjoyable evening, and for all managing to come with a “pinch of pink”!
