Simone a hit in 'This Womans Work'

Simone Matthews of Abbey Lower 6 was a huge success as the comic lead in the universally acclaimed Senior Lit. Soc. production of This woman’s work. In a play penned by students and staff, Simone played the role of Jane Harlow, a mother who is frustrated in her search for crisis and drama among her family.

A particularly memorable scene was a hilarious duologue, between Simone and Cassie Thorpe, playing her best friend Zoe. The two Abbey girls clearly had a great rapport which raised huge laughs from the audience. So convincing were their performances, that their proud mothers had to quickly check that the girls hadn’t drawn references from too close to home when developing their characters!

Abbey girls could say with confidence though, that they recognised the chatter as typical of some of the nonsense conversations that often develop in The Link or at meal times in the house!

Its great to see Abbey girls making the most of the many opportunities available to them at Repton. Who knows if there are other hidden talents that other girls can discover by challenging themselves as Simone and Cassie have done?
