On the beautiful afternoon of June 22nd, Latham's Senior cricket side completed a hat-trick of victories with a comprehensive 9-wicket defeat of School House to lift this year's trophy. It was a perfect game from start to finish. Josh Moore won the toss and asked School House to bat and, after six overs, they were 29 for 0. In his second over, however, Josh removed School's two best batsmen in two balls and, with another wicket in his third over, the opposition were soon reduced to 39 for 3. Despite an impressive third wicket partnership, Latham managed to restrict School House to 140 for 9 from their 30 overs. Josh finished with figures of 5 for 25, and Gautham Shiralagi picked up 3 for 29. Dan Hugill secured the wicket of the impressive Hodson-Walker and a brilliant piece of fielding from Charlie Twigg ensured that Goodacre's innings ended in a run-out. At a run-rate of 4.66, the Latham batsmen went in knowing that if they could bat for the full 30 overs, then they would win. Dancey (8) lost his wicket early, but Huw Rees-Jones and Tom Cosford, both centurions in previous matches, proceeded to take the School House attack apart to secure a score of 144 for 1 from only 21.1 overs. Cosford, who has not been dismissed in this year's competition, finished on 74*and Huw on 50*. Having won the Junior Cup in 2006 and 2007, the boys have now completed an historic treble by securing this year's title. Many congratulations to them all, but specifically Huw, Tom and Josh for their leadership and commitment to the cause.
