The future is looking bright for senior netball in The Abbey as a relatively young team won the B Team competition with an exciting win against Field. The girls were delighted and celebrated with a Chinese meal later that night. Georgia Fletcher (O Block) reports on the match...

Our final House match this Term was against Field, and with a strong Abbey line-up we were confident of success.
We had captain Sophie Young who was willing The Abbey on all the way through and the amazing defensive skills of Shulie Venkataraman and Flora Kay. Harriet Celerier and Alex Cartlidge and Harriet Welch played amazingly all over the court, They were so quick around the court! We also had shooters Smera Kumar and Geogia Fletcher who played really well.. Mr Griffiths, Housemaster of Field said that the accuracy The Abbey shooters made the difference between the two teams..
The game was very tense and ended at 12 -12 at the end of ‘normal time’; so we went into 2 minutes extra time. Field were playing very well and had a few shots on goal but our amazing defenders managed to get the rebounds and send the ball back up to our shooters. With (WA) Harriet Celerier and (C) Alex Cartlidge working round the court with Sophie Young (GD), the ball was passed to Smera who then passed to Georgia with 10 seconds left to go! As Smera would say “Georgia scored the winning goal just like Nathan Scott’s three –pointer in One tree hill!”
The Abbey deserved to win the match and the overall score was 13-12 to The Abbey.
Well done girls!
