Fifty guests (parents of boys from The Cross, tutors and friends of the house) were treated to a magnificent night's entertainment on Saturday, 8th October, as we gathered to raise funds for The Sale of Work.

Starting on Private Side with a Cava and Canape reception, the guests were welcomed by the in-house Jazz Quartet, featuring Joey Ser on trumpet, Teddy Roberts on bass, Head of Keyboards and House Tutor, Luis Pares on piano and the rather surprising sight of Housemaster, Simon Earwicker on drums.

A three-course meal was served in the boys' dining room by House Chef, Jarrod, and tables were waited on by a most debonair selection of boys from the Lower Sixth. Whilst coffee was served, the guests were treated to further musical delights with stunning performances from Joey Ser and Jeffrey Chow on trumpet, Gabriel Cowley on piano, Nathaniel Paxton on viola and a confident and composed piece from B Block's Daniel Walker on trombone. Sadly, following a broken finger sustained at Derbyshire cricket trials the night before, we were deprived of the delights of a James Nijjar classical guitar piece.

Nevertheless, an excellent time was had by all and a very impressive amount of money raised for the Sale of Work charities.
