Rugby

Rugby is played in the Lent Term at Repton. In recent years the sport has expanded considerably and school teams have represented the school at U14, U15, U16 and 1st XV level.

We now have a full and expanded fixture list against some established rugby schools and results at all age groups have been most successful in the last few years. During the term we also play in several Sevens tournaments, including the Middlesex Sevens, which affords our boys the opportunity to play against some more experienced opposition.

Rugby is played and coached to the highest possible level. All of the coaching staff are well-qualified and experienced current and former players. Each boy is encouraged to fulfil his potential to enable maximum enjoyment and to further their playing experience alongside the many other values that the sport of rugby brings.

We endeavour to play an open and expansive style of play where players are encouraged to keep the ball in hand and play attacking rugby. We expect high standards in training and a high level of commitment towards health and fitness, and actively encourage players to be honest, hardworking, disciplined and to enjoy their rugby.

The rugby experience at Repton extends to the classroom where we regularly use video and Smart board technologies to analyse our own and more experienced styles of play. We have taken many trips to see Premiership matches and meet international players. It is hoped that, as the sport develops at Repton, we will take boys on tour to experience other cultures and be welcomed by other rugby teams across the world.
