Royal Wedding Celebrations!

Today has been a wonderful day of celebration with Repton remaining “in session” for the Royal Wedding Day. No House was keener to make the day special than the Mitre, and the bunting has been up in preparation since we returned from the Easter break on Wednesday!

The first few lessons were soon over and the girls ran (literally in many cases!) back to the House to get the best seats in the Common Rooms for the ceremony and build up. Devoted tutor Mr McClary was with us, and it was wonderful to hear the resounding singing along to hymns and superb rendition of the National Anthem resonating through the House.

The next destination was “The Arch” for the whole school street party. This was a wonderful occasion. Mitre sat together as a House, and had some delicious food provided by our wonderful team of ladies. The end of the meal saw the start of some musical entertainment and it was fabulous to see a group of Mitre U6th girls dancing to the music.

Tea time saw the dining room festooned with union flags, red, white and blue balloons and of course lots of bunting (Mrs Parish had managed to buy the last of the bunting in Burton before the bunting crisis hit!). Trish had even made some royal wedding cupcakes especially for the occasion!

The girls are very much looking forward to the whole school fireworks display at 9pm this evening on the paddock, which will see the day end with a bang!

Our thanks to all those who have helped the Mitre girls have such a fun and memorable day. Every girl in the House will certainly be able to say what they were doing the day that William married Catherine!
