Reserve team football

This year we had a very tidy reserve football team consisting of a solid defence at the back and a strong midfield. Our only weakness was the absence of a good striker. Our first game was against The Cross, which was more redolent of a training match than a competitive fixture for us:  Luke Hulse discovered his talent as a striker, scoring two well-deserved goals to lead us to the semi-final. Calvert Hyde-Barker dominated the left side, whipping in some good crosses to set up a few goals. The final score was 8-2: other goals came from Philip Balkanski, Joe Knight, Ryan Padley, Jon Arnold, Will Garrett and Charlie Bracegirdle.

The semi -final was against The Priory who were a strong opposition and we were missing a few players owing to injuries and illness. Everyone gave 100%, to coin a phrase, and the back four of Sam Armstrong, James Sread, Will Garrett and Shintaro Kajiwara did well to keep Priory away from the penalty area. Joe Knight dominated the midfield along with Joe Markham, Michael Guest and Philip Balkanski. The winning goal came in second half when Guest fired a shot from outside the box to beat the ‘keeper. Jack Edwards in goal made crucial saves to keep us in front.

We shall be looking to the final to cap a strong season.
