In a small way the Big Society has come to Repton.
A group of O block pupils are seen here clearing weeds from an area of Repton memorial arboretum in preparation for the planting of a wild flower meadow. This work is being carried out in conjunction with Repton Parish Council in order to create an area for quiet contemplation and reflection.
Other work in the pipeline for the conservation group includes helping out at Rosliston Forestry Centre in Burton-upon-Trent, and working alongside the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust on their nature reserve at Willington gravel pits. We’re keen to get other local conservation groups involved and encourage a spirit of volunteering and cooperation in line with the spirit of the Big Society.
