The young members of The Rep Theatre Company will be performing On the Razzle by Tom Stoppard at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with special preview performances here at Repton School. The play is an adaptation of Einen Jux will er sich machen by Johann Nestroy – mid nineteenth century Austrian playwright. A previous adaptation was The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder which led to the musical Hello Dolly!
The youngest membership of the company: Dominic Nield (only 10 years old) plays The Ragamuffin, Andrew Richardson (14) plays a leading role (Christopher) and is flying from Florida where he now lives to take part, Technical Manager Hayden Ball (15) is responsible for all lighting and sound for the production in both Repton and Edinburgh. The oldest performers are 18.
Only four days of intensive rehearsals will take place before the first preview performance and to aid in the transition to Edinburgh, the Repton venue will be configured to the exact dimensions of the Edinburgh venue so that the cast and crew can familiarise themselves with the space available.
