A record number of Repton sixth formers have been accepted for residential courses at Villiers Park, a national charity providing courses for the gifted and talented. Eleven pupils will spend four days in small intensive workshops gaining an insight into a wide range of topics beyond AS/A2 level specification.
Pupils are nominated by School for the Cambridge based, competitive and oversubscribed courses. Places are highly sought after, with stiff competition from many applicants and Master of Scholars, John Plowright added “These pupils are highly motivated individuals, possessing the ability and willingness to explore subjects beyond the confines of the sixth form curriculum.”
The pupils and their chosen subjects are:
Sarah Cotterill & Mark Harrison: 'Drama and Theatre Studies: Aspects of Performance'
Ellie Holroyd: Spanish & Spanish American Literature, Culture & Society
Gemma Bartlett: Mathematics: Chaos or Clear Cut?
Leila Harding & Ben Hardwick : Physics: How the Universe Lives and Dies
Robert Keep: Philosophy, Politics & Economics
Tish Sanghera & Lucy Watson: Classical Studies: New Approaches to Old Ideas
Chris Warner: Geography: Geographical Imaginations
Philippa Davis: History: Urban Britain – medieval & modern
