Pupils RockIt

In this year's RockIt concert ten acts entertained an appreciative audience with songs by the Foo Fighters, Timberland, Muse, Joy Division, Cream, Jimi Hendrix and the Kings of Leon to name but a few.

Aspiring young musicians across all year groups emulated their idols and gained the experience of playing a large-scale rock gig as Pears School transformed into a venue one would normally associate with the NIA. Again, the standard was high and notable performances were given by Somerset Geere, Charles Bracegirdle, Seb, Guy Nick & James, Slow Patrol, Blair Dunlop & Ricky Ho Chan, Haircut of the Week, Crimson Sunburst, No Vacancies and Red Light District.

The RockIt is open to all and one of its key strengths is the cross-pollination of classical and popular musicians of all standards playing alongside one another. Indeed, Owen Winter’s incredibly high falsetto tessitura to Muses’s ‘New Born’ was a memorable moment and another reflection of the opportunities and educational experience on offer to all musicians at Repton.

The RockIt continues to be a key date for contemporary musicians and a popular hit with the School as no less than 227 pupils opted to see the show, which also raised some £454.00 for the Lent Charity in the process. The RockIt will certainly re-launch next year!
