Repton established a preparatory school in 1940, initially located in the village, before moving just two miles away to Foremarke Hall in 1947.
Centred on a fine Georgian mansion built in 1760 and surrounded by 50 acres of beautiful grounds, Foremarke Hall inspires and captures the imagination of its children even before they have walked through the door. Hidden away in a quiet area of stunning Derbyshire countryside Foremarke Hall gives the feel of a magical retreat but the sound of the busy sports fields, pre-prep in their play area and inquisitive pupils in lessons, brings to life this storybook setting and fills it with a sense of enjoyment and purpose.
Foremarke is today a boarding and day school for 450 boys and girls aged three to thirteen. The School enjoys an enviable reputation for its excellent balance of academic and out of classroom opportunities with the provision of first class facilities and teaching.
A strong boarding ethos lies at the heart of the School and the inviting grounds, comfortable buildings and friendly caring staff create a home from home for those who choose to board. Many teachers make their homes on site and their families help to complete that all important caring and safe community atmosphere. The weekend programme for boarders is full and varied with busy Sundays spent using the wonderful facilities and grounds or experiencing a wide range of trips and outward bound activities.
Together with Repton, Foremarke Hall offers children the continuity and security of a single educational journey right through their vital developmental years, providing the education, experience and skills that will be preparation for life; encouraging discipline, common sense and good manners to bring out the best in every pupil.
