Sixth Formers Liam Fletcher (O), Katy Strong (G) and Joshua Benn (S) have handed over a cheque for £16,049.17 to Adam Rigley, a volunteer co-ordinator from Help 4 Heroes charity. Katy, Liam and Josh had suggested H4H as the beneficiary of this year’s Lent Charity as they all have parents in HM Forces and said they felt it was also an appropriate choice because Repton has a strong personal connection with the Services through parents and the Old Reptonian community.
A wide variety of fund-raising initiatives were organised during term which together raised the record amount. Accepting the cheque on behalf of H4H Adam said: “This is amazing, well done and thank you to the whole school community. We have far exceeded our expectations in what H4H has raised. We expect to top £55m this week – our cause has captured the hearts of the nation.”
Commenting on the total raised, Liam Fletcher said: “It is fantastic that the School rallied to support this amazing charity. I’m sure that the money we’ve raised will go to support true heroes of our country.”
