Pick 'n' Mix in the Music Department

The last Informal concert of Michaelmas term was one to be remembered. It was a delightful evening with an eclectic mix of music and instrumentation. Victor (Li, Chun-Tat) (P) played a beautiful piece on the Zheng – a traditional Chinese instrument. He transported us to a mystical land of the Chinese Dynasties. Ben Nevill (O) played his saxophone with real panache and poise – Blah Blah Blah (this was the title of the piece!). What particularly impressed the audience was Hayden Ball (S), Ellie Holroyd (F), Sam Kingston Jones (S) and Emma Crawforth (F) singing music from composer’s such as Handel to Sondheim. Teddy Roberts (C) and Tom Hume (L) teamed up with Mr Bournon and played three superb original Rock numbers. The decibels were up and the dexterity and musicianship was certainly on a par. The Bourn (on) Supremacy - you never know, it might catch on.

Last, but not least the Sax Pack played Smooth by Santana with a full rhythm section. The ensemble was tight and the improvising excellent. Well done to everyone involved and we are all looking forward to next term’s concerts, the first of which is Thursday 7th January, 9.15pm.
