William Bell, last year’s Head of Latham House and now an OR, has become a National Tetrathlon Champion. William was a member of the three man Cottesmore Hunt team and competed in the 2009 Tetrathlon Championships held in August at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire.
A Tetrathlon is a variant of the Modern Pentathlon, without the Fencing and comprises:
Shooting at stationary targets using .177 calibre air pistols.
Swimming freestyle as far as possible in a pool over a fixed time
Riding over a cross-country course including a number of fences under timed conditions.
Running across-country which might include obstacles under timed conditions.
James Dahl, Housemaster of Latham, commented on William's achievement;
"William was an outstanding pupil while at Repton and we are delighted to hear of his news since leaving the School. He is a superb all-round sportsman, excelling in equestrianism, swimming and long-distance running in particular, and we congratulate him whole-heartedly on his national title.”
