Old Reptonian receives cricketing recognition

Promising young cricketer Tom Cosford (L 2005), has built on the solid foundations of his career with the School 1st XI to gain greater plaudits. Having been selected to represent Northern Universities at indoor cricket, Tom has now been named as the latest recipient of the Wetherell Award for the Leading All-Rounder at Repton School.

Founded after a generous bequest by OR Rex Wetherell (N 1915) the Wetherell Awards recognise the contribution of all-rounders in the English game, presenting trophies to the leading players in four categories: All-Rounder in the English First-Class Game; Young All-Rounder in the English First-Class Game; All-Rounder in English Schools Cricket; All-Rounder at Repton School.

Presented at the prestigious Cricket Society dinner each spring, former winners of the First-Class awards include Shane Warne, Ravi Bopara, Graeme Swann, Ray Illingworth and Imran Kahn, so Tom will find himself in some elite company when he collects his award! Training each weekend with Northern Universities, he might be hoping, one day, to compete for the First-Class awards himself.
