National Indoor Title Retained

The U18 Girls’ Hockey squad successfully defended their National Indoor Schools title at the weekend.

The finals were held at Fleming Park, Eastleigh with matches on both Saturday and Sunday. Repton’s first match was against Millfield - the team they eventually faced in the final. It ended in a three-all draw and was the only game in the tournament that they did not win!

Repton went into the semi-final with renewed energy, beating winners of the other pool, Cooper’s C & C, 3 – 1. This secured a place in the final where their determination and drive powered them to a convincing 5-1 victory over Millfield.

“Everyone involved with the squad is just so proud of them,” Martin Jones said. “Going in as holders of the title meant that everyone had huge expectations of them and it added to the pressure.

“The girls came up against some tough competition and played extremely well. They should all be congratulated for their play and their spirit.”

Over the weekend both the U16 girls and boys also played in the national finals for their age group. Neither team managed to reach the last round in these competitions but both enjoyed the experience.

The U18 girls will be competing for their place in the national outdoor finals when they take part in the Midlands finals at Rugby School on February 6th.
