Musicians of the Year Final

Musicians of the Year Final

Last week the final of this year’s Music Competitions was held in the Beldam Hall. A large and supportive audience gathered for what proved to be an exciting and high quality evening.

Ryan Hepburn, from St Paul's School London, was the visiting adjudicator and he gave detailed feedback on every performance. As an academic musician, organist, percussionist and brass player he was well placed to give insightful, considered advice.

It was a very competitive night, with strong performances from many. In the Junior Class Joseph Jankinson won the cup for his excellent singing and oboe playing. Highly commended were William Markham and Charlotte Graham, both singers, whose performances he also found compelling.

Emma Monteiro won the Senior Cup for her performance of Typically English. Also singing, Emma performed with with real confidence and style; this was a popular winner too. Alex Rotheroe was commended for her harp playing and Edwin Wilton-Morgan for his singing.

Joseph and Emma will be performing on Speech Day morning, in the concert at 11.30am, Pears School.
