Continuing its enviable reputation for musical excellence, Latham supplied no fewer than six individual winners to the recent Repton Musician of the Year competition - more than any other House in the school. Tom Hume (O Block) started and finished the Junior section, as brass and popular song winner, and his rendition of Herbie Hancock's Watermelon Man, full of jazzy improvisation, was a firm crowd favourite. Edwin Wilton-Morgan (A Block), junior classical voice champion, also impressed singing Beethoven, as did Owen Winter (L6) in the senior section who was highly commended for his moving performance. Latham's two percussionists - Robert Keep (L6) on the xylophone and Huw Rees-Jones (L6) on the kit - produced powerful and highly engaging performances, and certainly ensured that the annual competitions finished with a bang! It was a wonderful evening and the Latham boys did us proud.
