The Mitre harmony group did a superb job at the House Harmony competition last night, singing a haunting rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Angel of Music”.
The piece began with a beautiful solo from Emma Monteiro (L6), who captivated the audience. There was also some very assured singing from Harriet Yeung (U6) and Kiki Betts Dean (L6) who also sang solos within the piece. The other girls, Ellie Rees (L6), Kit Rees (L6), Charlotte Graham (L6) and Hannah Fullelove (L6), contributed to a showcase of Mitre singing talent of which we are immensely proud.
We are very grateful to Harriet Yeung in particular who arranged the parts of the song herself. Interestingly the adjudicator had never heard of the song, so the Mitre introduced him to one of the most famous tracks from the West End and Broadway show – Phantom of the Opera.
The adjudicator was very keen to give the girls credit for the way they listened to each other as they sang together – calling this the route of all success in harmony singing.
Well done to all those who took part and thank you to all those who came and supported the House.
