A cold afternoon saw the Mitre putting in a very strong performance in the inter-House netball competitions. Both the A and B teams played some excellent netball in a round robin event – which saw both teams win all three of their matches against some excellent competition from the other Houses.
The A team had their toughest match against the Garden who played some very good netball and who were ahead at the end of the first half of the match. The Mitre came back strong in the second half and were helped by some superb and accurate shooting from Ellie Jennings Edwards and Eleanor Sharples. Across on the B court, the B team shooters were also doing very well with Imogen Clark and Phoebe Roberts playing some excellent netball and working hard to create chances in the circle.
The matches against Garden, were followed by those against the Abbey. Once again the matches were played in good spirits, with some excellent centre court play from Charlotte Graham for the A team, and Clare Gething Lewis for the B team, helping both teams to have strong second matches.
The final games were against the Field. The A team had to work very hard indeed against a determined and well supported team, and it was tense to see the match won by the A team in a nail biting last few minutes, having seen Field go ahead twice during the course of the game. The B team played really well again in their final match, notching up the goals, and playing some strong netball.
This was another excellent performance from the Mitre Junior girls, who truly have done the House very proud indeed so far this year. Both teams will look forward to a Chinese meal on Friday night as a special treat for all of their hard work.
