Despite the scorching heat and consequent risk of dehydration, both the Mitre A and B teams played their way to victory in the JHM Tennis finals.
Both teams (and their supporters!) demonstrated excellent Mitre House spirit, maintaining their focus and determination throughout. Particularly exciting to watch was Rosie Cordingley (3M) and Phoebe Greetham’s (3M) match against Field; they came back impressively from 4-2 down. The subsequent 4-4 draw ensured that Mitre won overall with 8 points in their favour. Equally worthy of note was Emily Renshaw (4M) and Charlotte Graham’s (3M) 9-0 victory against Garden, as well as Grace Baker’s (4M) seemingly un-returnable serve, all ensuring that Mitre came out on top.
The B team fared equally well, also winning with 8 points in their favour. Despite the odd shriek from Sophie Griffiths (4M) and Eleanor Sharples’ (3M) court, there was some impressive tennis to be seen. Today’s victory saw the Mitre girls do what they do best: demonstrate a fierce determination to win, combined with courtesy and good humour on court. Congratulations and well done indeed!
