This year The Mitre, at the instigation of Emma Monteiro U6M, has decided to support “Operation Christmas Child”.
Over the course of the weekend, a number of the girls went and bought appropriate gifts to go into Christmas parcels to be sent to under-privileged children worldwide. This year the boxes the Mitre has prepared will be sent to Kazakhstan and I am sure that the thoughtful gifts many of the girls have added to our boxes will be well received this Christmas.
Operation Christmas Child this year celebrates its 20 year anniversary and I hope this new venture for Mitre will become an annual act of giving, which will see girls in the House thoughtfully prepare Christmas parcels to send to children less fortunate than themselves.
Many thanks to parents who have so kindly sent in donations for the boxes – all of which have made superb additions and to the many girls who have keenly participated in preparing the boxes this year.
